invitation to expand your educational practice

This is an invitation to participate in a program for adult educators, longing for a different, deeper approach to shaping education.

The program we shaped for you consists of a live kick-off in Croatia between 24th February-March 1st 2020, followed by 3 months of online continuation.

We have 25 seats available for brave, curious adult educators who want to bring their practice to the next level and fully embrace the transformative component.

This program has been developed within the Erasmus+ Project Building Capacity for Transformative Learning by a team of fellow adult educators and facilitators from Sweden, Croatia, Hungary, Germany and The Netherlands.

Live Kick Off will take place froom February 24th – March 1st 2020 in Fužine  about 110km from Zagreb, Croatia.

You will:

  • Be a learner in a transformative learning experience
  • Learn about tools and practices as an adult educator
  • Connect with 24 international peers
  • Establish peer support groups
  • Draft your own transformative curriculum/project
  • Leave with a clear intention of what curriculum idea you want to work on during the online program.

who is this for?
Is that you?

This workshop is for adult educators who are open for personal transformation through doing and interested in transformative learning as such. A place for adult educators who want to bring a transformative edge to their educational practice.

Please apply if:

  • You are an adult educator with at least some experience in facilitation (think teachers of learners of the age of 18+)
  • You are interested in adding a transformative component to your educational practice.
  • You have a playground of your own where you can try out a curriculum of your design (think a classroom or circle of learners where you could put your design in practice to see how it works, or a running practice, or a pool of colleagues who want to be your guinea-pigs)
  • You are willing to share your experience in applying TL to your work, at 8 online meetings during the period March-May 2020

Who is this NOT for?

  • An educator without any experience in facilitation.
  • Someone who only wants to do the offline, or only the online component.

We are calling for adult educators who dream of building a transformative curriculum and put it into practice within 3 months or less.

You will:

  • Design the curriculum idea you will have shaped during the offline kick off in detail,
  • Run your program in real life in your own classroom,
  • Get support and guidance with the execution of your program,
  • Meet bi-weekly with the whole team,
  • Enjoy peer support sessions,
  • Have guided and fun conversations on the topic of transformative learning, Experience your own transformative learning journey,
  • Oh, loads of fun and laughter – that too

who will be your guides on the journey?

You won’t be alone on such a journey. Experienced facilitators and course creators will be your guides and support through designing and seeing your curriculum design come to life. Imagine us as your biggest fan club who want to see you have fun and create an amazing design that will make you proud (no pressure!)

Your travel expenses will be reimbursed after your return from Croatia. All the accommodation and food costs will be paid for in advance by the EU.

Getting to Zagreb

Major airlines link Zagreb to many European capitals year-round. Read more about flights to Zagreb.

There’s been an explosion of cheap and comfortable international bus lines to Zagreb from a wealth of European cities. Read more about buses to Zagreb.

Getting to Fužine

The most convenient way to reach Fužine with public transport is by bus from Zagreb. Bus tickets could be bought online.

Use public bus from Zagreb airport to Zagreb Bus station. The airport bus leaves every half hour for the 25-minute trip to Zagreb bus station and it costs 30Kn.

Use tram from Zagreb Train station to Zagreb Bus station. Use tram number 2 or 6, three stops toward east, from Train station to Bus station.
Whether you buy a ticket for 4kn (valid 30 min) from a Tisak or from the driver (6kn), you must stamp the ticket in a yellow box as soon as you board.

We expect our participants to come on Monday, February 24th 2020 afternoon, and we’ll start with dinner. Departure day is Sunday March 1st 2020 after breakfast.

Every mourning we start with Morning practice at 8:00, Breakfast at 9:00, Lunch at 13:00 and Free time 14:00-16:30.

On February 23rd, the International Carnival Parade will take place in Rijeka, a EU capital of culture! ( 32 km, cca half an hour, from Fužine).

International Carnival Parade is the jewel in the crown of the carnival festivities in Kvarner and beyond. Competitions in creativity, humour and originality, fireworks of colours and shapes result in a parade of hundreds of allegorical floats, thousands of masks and a countless number of visitors from home and abroad.
